Packaging Redesign - De La Cruz Sulphur Ointment

Done as an exploration project in my spare time.

Brief: While perusing the skincare side of the internet, I came across this product that was highly recommended for it's effectiveness at treating acne. However, the first thing I thought when I saw the packaging is "Wow, for a cult favourite product this packaging is extremely basic looking." It's not a super cheap product, either, so I thought it would be fun to redesign the packaging and see if I can make it look a bit more pricey.

Brainstorm: In addition to the primary colour scheme on the packaging looking pretty juvenile, the actual component was very basic. I wanted to simplify the label, choose a nicer component for the mockup, and give it a bit more of a pharmaceutical look.

Solution: I chose to narrow down the colour scheme to merely using this sunshine yellow as an accent colour, while leaving the logo red as to keep it recognizeable. The actual cream inside is also a yellow colour so I thought it matched well.

This serif font is meant to give that elegant touch and add a bit of maturity to the packaging.

I decided on a glass bottle with a metal top not only to increase the perceived value, but glass is also a more sustainable packaging option (even though this is just a hypothetical scenario).
