Turkey Town - Logo/Label

Designed for a contest

Client: Turkey Town Bourbon Distillery

Brief: "On the fringe of artisan, our brand should be clean and sleek but historic in nature. Our target market includes millennial's and men and women from ages 25-40. Our logo should be clean and fresh but must contain some sort of vintage flare. We want reference to Turkey to be somewhat discreet or inquisitive."

Brainstorm: In terms of vintage flair, I was wanting to focus on the typography of the logo. A large marker of vintage bourbon labels included script, calligraphy-like lettering. Something that a lot of modern labels include is transparent labels with a metallic/foiled look to make it look more expensive, so I took inspiration from that. I also wanted to reference "Turkey" without making it cheesy or childlike, since turkeys are typically regarded as a goofy animal.

Solution: I combined the T's of Turkey and Town and made the text flow underneath to fit nicely within the T negative space. For a scalable logo marker, I chose the turkey footprint as something that can be instantly recognizable.

I incorporated this into the label design to balance out the composition and add more personality. For each line, I kept the same design but changed the colour schemes according to the "prestigiousness" of the line (blue and silver for the lowest tier to give feeling of reliability; red and copper for signature tier to give powerful feeling; purple and gold in premium line to exude royalty; and all black in the luxe line to represent class that never goes out of style).
